Defence Transition Program
St John's has been part of the Defence School Transition Aide (DSTA) Program since 2006. Being in the vicinity of HMASs Albatross and Creswell, the school has a high number of students with a parent in the Australian Defence Force.
The DSTA Program is designed to minimise the effects of mobility (ie postings) and service-induced family separation that may be experienced by these students. It achieves this by positioning DSTAs in local primary schools and Defence Transition Mentors (DTMs) in high schools. The DSTA and DTM roles are to help welcome, integrate, support and farewell Defence students.
St John's DTM is employed three days a week and is accessible to all Defence students and their families. If you are a Defence family considering St John's as a schooling option for your family, you are welcome to contact the DTM to discuss the program.
St John's is pleased to be part of the DSTA Program.
