St John's has been part of the Defence School Mentor (DSM) Program since 2006. Being in the vicinity of HMASs Albatross and Creswell, the school has a high number of students with a parent in the Australian Defence Force.

The DSM program is designed to minimise the effects of mobility (ie postings) and service-induced family separation that may be experienced by these students.  It achieves this by positioning DSMs in local primary  and high schools. The DSM role is to help welcome, integrate, support and farewell Defence students.

St John's DSM is employed three days a week and is accessible to all Defence students and their families. If you are a Defence family considering St John's as a schooling option for your family, you are welcome to contact the DSM to discuss the program.

St John's is pleased to be part of the DSM Program.
